Bystander studies (field trials)
Bystander studies assess the impact of an agricultral protection product which could be inhaled or absorbed orally or dermally by people who are casually in or adjacent to areas of application.
When a first tier study using modeling based on product properties and other factors indicate reference values are exceeded, field studies are required.
Exposure is assessed via dosimetry (trapping the substance on a whole-body absorbent garment) and air sampling (via a tube at lapel level, connected to a pump and sampling device).
