Crop protection & agrochemical rotation studies

Crop rotation studies are extended field trials carried out when tier 1 and 2 studies, OECD TG 502 and 504, have shown residue accumulation in soil or significant residues in plants (in TG 504: 0.01mg/kg or above for plant-back intervals > 30 days).

These studies provide information for setting maximum residue levels and label restrictions. Target primary and rotational crops are chosen from different crop groups, in combinations typical for the intended use of the product.

Field trials are carried out at multiple locations to represent the main geographical distribution for the chosen crop combinations, usually four locations (eight, for major crops such as cereals). Application is at the maximum intended rate.
