Import tolerance for field trials
Import tolerance is the maximum residue level (MRL) for produce exposed to a crop protection product not registered in the importing country. Acceptable MRL levels differ internationally, as do dossier requirements, which means new tests may be required to supplement existing toxicology and product chemistry data. Field trials provide the most essential data for determining import tolerance. These must be performed in multiple locations and potentially multiple crops, as specified in requirements of the importing country, and run in accordance with local and importer regulations.
