EPA: EPI Suite™ analysis (U.S.)
The US EPA EPI Suite is a quantitative structure‒activity relationships (QSAR) modeling system provided by the US Environmental Protection Agency. It uses knowledge of the chemical’s molecular structure to calculate physicochemical properties and predict environmental fates, for example estimating melting/boiling points and biodegradation half-life. Modeling makes it possible to screen out potentially toxic candidate compounds at early stages in the development process, minimizing expensive experimentation. It can also be used to support the results of tests that have not met good laboratory practice (GLP) requirements. Regulatory authorities recommend running more than one QSAR model for each required endpoint.
