Trypsin-like immunoreactivity (TLI) analysis
This is an automated serum assay, measuring the levels of trypsinogen present in the blood during nonclinical research studies.
Trypsinogen is synthesized exclusively by the acinar cells of the pancreas, so measurement of trypsinogen by the trypsin-like immunoreactivity (TLI) assay provides an indirect index of pancreatic function. This assay detects both trypsinogen and trypsin, but trypsin (the active enzyme) is present in the serum only when there is pancreatic inflammation.
