Blood gas arterial evaluation

Measuring arterial blood gas involves taking blood specifically from an artery and calculating the partial pressure of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood, as well as the acid-base level (pH).

These measurements indicate the oxygenation and ventilation status of the blood and are used to determine whether there is a potential respiratory problem (such as pneumonia) or a metabolic problem (such as kidney failure).
