Cesarean section
A cesarean section is the surgical delivery of a fetus. The technique can be performed during nonclinical research studies before research models are due to accurately assess the effect of a test compound on fetal development in the uterus. Cesareans can also be performed at various time points as regulated for different study designs and different species and strains. For instance, at gestation day 18/19 (mice), 20/21 (rats) and 29 (rabbits).
